Adopt Coast to Coast, the Regional Adoption Agency for Cumbria County Council, Durham County Council and Together for Children is hosting individual and group events this October for those looking to find out more about adoption in Cumbria.
With National Adoption Week just around the corner (18th-23rd October 2021) Adopt Coast to Coast is offering three days of bookable one-to-one appointments in Penrith, Kendal and Workington as well as two online information events.
The private one-to-one sessions are by appointment only and during the 45-minute session, adoption social workers from Cumbria will explain how adoption works and answer any questions guests may have. The sessions are suitable for those who are at the very start of thinking about adoption, as well as those who are ready to apply.
One-to-one appointments are available on the hour and must be booked here. Appointments are available as follows:
Tuesday 12th October at Workington Library, CA14 2NA
Wednesday 20th October at Penrith Library, CA11 7YA
Thursday 28th October at Kendal County Hall, LA9 4RQ
We are delighted to be able to offer in-person appointments for those looking to find out more about adoption. We know some people feel more comfortable talking about their own circumstances on a one-to-one basis, so we are delighted to be able to offer bookable appointments in three different locations in Cumbria. There are still misconceptions about who can adopt, how long the process takes and how it all works, so our information events and one-to-one appointments are an ideal way for people to find out in a comfortable and relaxed environment how we find permanent, safe and loving homes for the children in our care.
Paula Gibbons, Head of Service for Adopt Coast to Coast
Adopt Coast to Coast is also hosting two hour-long online group information events during October as below:
Saturday 16th October @ 10am
Wednesday 27th October @ 6pm
Email email@example.com to book a place at an information event.
I am delighted to see the return of face-to-face adoption appointments in Cumbria. Adoption is a wonderful way to change the life of children who need a permanent family, and we are always looking for prospective adopters to come forward. We are particularly looking to recruit adopters who would consider offering a family for brother and sister groups, children aged 5 and over, and those with additional needs. If you’re interested in adoption, our appointments and information events are the ideal way to take that important first step.
Cllr Anne Burns, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services
Adopt Coast to Coast partners offer full training and support throughout the application process to both prospective adopters and their families, and ongoing support is available once a new family is formed.
